Arrived back yesterday morning, still
jetlagged, was the best holiday I've been on!!!
We flew to Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific, the meal was ok
usual veggie option. We had a smooth 12 hour flight and landed
in Hong Kong at about 10ish there time, we met the other
couple who we were told were on the same flight, apparently a
friend of theirs won the hol and gave it to them anyway they
were a lovely couple from Cardiff Richard and iris, we
introduced ourselves and all made our way over to the airport
limousine desk, after giving our details we were whisked away
to, 2 chauffeur, driven Mercedes - very posh.
The weather was already very warm so it was nice sinking back
into the comfort of our air-conditioned limo. Hong Kong is
amazing the huge skyscraper buildings all nestle next to each
other, on arrival at hotel we were given the key to our double
room on the 7th floor, it was brilliant very posh gigantic bed
we had a desk several chairs huge television, mini bar, safe,
built in wardrobe with its own lights inside big bathroom,
loads toiletries, everyday we were given 2 fresh bottles of
spring water just for teeth cleaning, we had our own bathrobes
and matching slippers, we made ourselves a coffee and decided
to explore. |

We ended up taking a ferry across to
Hong Kong island to look around, it takes a while to get used
to all the people thronging the streets, thousands of shops
everywhere, there shopping malls were fantastic so spotless
huge and so cool coos there all air-conditioned, all the big
names are the tiffany, vuitton, Armani you name it they were
all there! We bought an Octopus card that enables you to
travel on any ferry bus train tram in Hong Kong, you could
even use the card in the shops if you wanted, brilliant value
for money too, back at hotel we found that our cups had
miraculously disappeared replaced with fresh ones (this
happened every time we left the hotel when we got back
everything was pristine day or night towels were replaced
toiletries it was brilliant, the next day we had to ourselves
so pottered around Kowloon were we were staying, we didn't do
much just looked around the shops.
We got back to the hotel and got ready for the martin Johnson
testimonial dinner that evening Gerald my partner looked so
handsome in his black suit and tie I had on my posh frock
bought just for this occasion felt very special, we went down
to the lobby, met the other couple, and our limousines arrived
and we were whisked away to the grand Hyatt hotel on Hong Kong
island, we were soon mingling with the rich and famous like we
had done all our lives lol! |
We were shown to our table which was
booked under Tetley's (the promoters) there were 5 couples in
all prize-winners some were jetting off to new Zealand the
next day as part of their prize, what can I say about the
evening the food was delicious not a lot of it but delicious,
the drinks flowed all night when your glass got half empty it
was immediately refilled each table had their own waiter, the
rugby stars were at the front we could see martins table from
ours, I went up with the book that was given us a tribute to
him, and said martin could you sign this to Sharon with love,
he said darling you can have lots of love, he was a really
nice guy down to earth and very funny.
There were raffles auctions, a lot of money was bid way above
our limits lol but it was so interesting to watch, we bought
some raffle tickets but didn't win, at the end of the evening
we where whisked off again in the limo back to the hotel, the
rest of the time was ours to do as we wished. |

We visited ocean park a theme park with
rides and animals loads of things going off there, def
recommend this to anyone travelling there, for shopping we
went to Stanley market where there were hundreds of shops
filled with amazing bargains of silks cottons pashminas,
bought some gifts to take back for family etc we visited the
zoo and botanical gardens on the hottest day of the hol it
must have been 100c sweat was poring off everyone, we took our
time and enjoyed the day despite the heat, on the Sunday we
took the train to sha tin racecourse which is a brilliant
course and only about 85p to get in we even got free silent
witness baseball caps on the gates, there were thousands of
people there facilities were fantastic, the racing good, a
great day out cost us about a tenner for travel admittance
food and a bet in each of the ten races marvellous value, we
didn't pick a winner unfortunately lol but it matter a bit we
had a wonderful day.
At night we ate in different restaurants from spaghetti house
there angel haired spaghetti dish is the best I've ever tasted
yum we had indians Chinese there was no shortage of choice,
and it was so cheap we had a Indian meal for 2 with absolutely
loads of side dishes drinks etc came to about a tenner for the
lot, I could go on all day but i don't want to bore you lol

All in all it was an amazing hol in a amazing country very
different, Hong Kong is very busy, very warm, its also a very
safe clean and friendly place lots of things to do and see
from a theme park to the worlds largest Buddha, monasteries,
wonderful parks, but for me the most magical thing was
watching the Hong Kong skyline all lit up at night
breathtaking.
We had a 12 and a half hour flight home that went smooth,
England seems so quite compared to Hong Kong, just 12 days to
recover then off to Las Vegas for 9 days booked before I won
the hol)lol I'm turning into a jetsetter came home to not much
post at all but won 2 free scratch cards from the bold
promotion, right off to catch up on some much needed sleep
